📄️ Menu Bar Interface
The menu bar on top of the interface enables you to create a new design, save an existing design, open a design, import svg and image files, export designs to GIF, PDF, SVG for laser-cutting, and OBJ and STL for 3D printing. You can also see example designs that we have created in the Library and change settings.
📄️ Save
While Save seems like a simple option, you have the choice between saving to your local hard drive or to your MotionGen cloud account.
📄️ Import
This option opens a menu that allows you to choose between importing an image, such as PNG or JPG or SVG file inside the canvas. A bitmap image file can be used as a background image on top of which you can draw your mechanism, while an SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) file contains a shape described by a mathematical function. The SVG files can be edited like native shapes in MotionGen and even combined with other shapes and links.
📄️ Export
This option opens a dialog box that allows you to choose between different file types to export the mechanism in the canvas as. These file types include PDF, GIF, SVG, OBJ, and STL.
📄️ Library
This option opens a menu for you to choose between examples available to you to see different mechanisms and even try to edit them to put your own twist on them. We are constantly adding new designs to the library, so check out the library on a regular basis.
